Ministries and sectors streamline more than 22,300 staff after reorganization and consolidation
According to the report of the Ministry of Home Affairs, after the restructuring of the apparatus at ministries, ministerial-level agencies, and government agencies, the number of employees decreased by about 22,323 people (about 20%).
Laos merges several ministries and sectors to streamline the apparatus.
The Central Executive Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party has just issued Resolution No. 03 on streamlining the organizational structure and operating effectively.
24 ministries, branches and 49 localities have not fully allocated public investment capital plans.
The total unallocated capital is up to 77,635 billion VND, accounting for 9.42% of the plan. Of which, the central budget capital is 36,619 billion VND and the local budget balance capital is 41,016 billion VND.
Ministers and deputy ministers of 17 ministries and branches after restructuring the apparatus
After completing the organizational restructuring, the Government has 14 ministries and 3 ministerial-level agencies. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has signed decisions to transfer and appoint a number of deputy ministers and complete the leadership personnel of ministries and branches.
The Central Government has agreed to streamline the apparatus to 17 ministries, branches and 5 affiliated agencies.
The Government apparatus for the 2021-2026 term will be streamlined to 14 ministries, 3 ministerial-level agencies and 5 affiliated agencies.
Ministries and sectors subject to restructuring must temporarily stop purchasing assets from the beginning of 2025.
The Ministry of Finance instructs ministries and branches subject to restructuring to complete the inventory and classification of assets, and to temporarily suspend the purchase and lease of new assets from the beginning of 2025.
Plan to arrange and streamline press agencies under the Government and ministries and branches
The Government Steering Committee on summarizing the implementation of Resolution No. 18 has developed a plan to reorganize and streamline the Government apparatus, including press agencies under the Government.
The arrangement of ministries and branches must be completed this December.

Regulations on the number of deputies at agencies and units under ministries and branches
For departments under a general department with more than 20 civil servant positions; departments, inspectorates, and offices under a general department with 4 or more organizations, the Minister or Head of a ministerial-level agency shall decide on the number of deputies, but on average not more than 3 people.
