Released from prison in 2021, Vang A Dong was caught red-handed by Nam Dinh Provincial Police in coordination with related units while buying and selling heroin.
On July 22, Nam Dinh Provincial Police said that the unit had just coordinated with the No. 1 Drug Crime Prevention Task Force (Coast Guard Command) and the Ha Nam Ninh Customs Department to catch Vang A Dong (35 years old, residing in Si Pa Phin commune, Nam Po district, Dien Bien province) in the act of "illegally buying and selling drugs".

At the scene, police seized 4 heroin cakes (about 1.5 kg), 1 motorbike, 3 cell phones, 3 million VND and some other evidence.
Vang A Dong said he completed his prison term in 2021 after serving 16 years for illegally transporting drugs.
However, after being released from prison, Dong had no job so he found a way to connect and transport drugs from Dien Bien to other provinces to deliver to customers.
The case is currently being received and further investigated by the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of Nam Dinh Provincial Police.
