Lai Cach people's market (Cam Giang) has been closed for nearly 10 years due to its narrowness and lack of essential technical infrastructure.

Meanwhile, there are about 500 households still living in the temporary market in area 18, located on Doan Ket street, an alley of area 18 surrounding the new market. They even trade under the overpass, along Highway 5, spreading plastic sheets on the ground to display their goods, sitting on the sidewalk instead of entering the new market.
The new market has a planned area of 7,000 m2, but the investor only built about half of the area and divided it into 74 small stalls, only about 6-8 m2/stall.
