From July 1, what salary will military officers receive after the basic salary increases from 1.8 million VND to 2.34 million VND/month?
At the regular press conference of the Ministry of Home Affairs on June 20, Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra informed that the Politburo has agreed with the plan not to pay salaries according to job position, instead, the basic salary will be increased from 1.8 million VND to 2.34 million VND/month (equivalent to 30%), from July 1.
According to Article 1 of the Law on Officers of the Vietnam People's Army, officers of the Vietnam People's Army (officers) are cadres of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, operating in the military field, and are awarded the ranks of lieutenant, colonel, and general by the State.
The salary table for military officers according to military ranks is implemented according to Section 1 of Table 6 issued with Decree No. 204/2004 of the Government. The current basic salary is 1.8 million VND/month.
From July 1, the basic salary will increase from 1.8 million VND/month to 2.34 million VND/month.
Currently, officer salaries are calculated according to the formula: Salary = Basic salary x Current salary coefficient.
Thus, the salary of military officers from July 1, 2024 will increase compared to the old regulations, specifically as follows:

In addition to the 30% increase in basic salary from July 1, the Government has proposed not to abolish the current basic salary and salary coefficient. During the time when the conditions for implementing the 9 new allowances are not met, the current allowances will continue to be implemented.
Thus, in addition to the monthly salary, military officers also receive seniority allowance (calculated based on current salary and time in active service) plus public service allowance and leadership position allowance.
