South Korea holds live-fire drills on island near inter-Korean border

The South Korean Marine Corps exercise involving K-9 self-propelled guns took place for 30 minutes on Baengnyeong Island in the Yellow Sea, just south of the Northern Limit Line.

South Korea said the exercise took place on Yeonpyeong and Baengnyeong islands in the Yellow Sea, deploying Chunmoo multiple rocket launchers, Spike anti-tank missiles and K9 self-propelled guns.

About 190 South Korean soldiers participated in the exercise mobilizing seven Chunmoo MRLS units, as well as about 80 pieces of equipment operated by the Navy and Air Force, including corvettes and fighter jets.

South Korea holds live-fire drills near border with North Korea

According to Yonhap news agency, the South Korean Army said the exercise was held at a firing range in Cherwon, 85km northeast of the capital Seoul.
