Three family members died of suspected coal gas poisoning in Bac Giang

On the afternoon of January 28, Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan, Chairwoman of the People's Committee of An Ha commune, Lang Giang district (Bac Giang) said that in Mia village, An Ha commune, an incident had just occurred in which 3 people in a family died.

Specifically, on the morning of January 28, Mr. Nguyen Van H (residing in Yen Vuong commune, Huu Lung district, Lang Son province) was a hired worker for Mr. D.V. N's family in An Ha commune. He did not see Mr. N's family wake up so he knocked on the door.

Seeing no response, Mr. H called Mrs. T, Mr. N's biological mother. After that, Mrs. T opened the door and discovered Mr. D. V. N (born in 1984) and his wife, Ms. PT V (born in 1983), and their son D. V. D (born in 2019) dead on the bed.

In a bedroom of more than 10 square meters with no doors, the victims were lying on the bed, with a burnt charcoal pot on the floor. Initial investigations determined that the victims may have burned charcoal to keep warm and then suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning.

Currently, the Criminal Police Department, Bac Giang Provincial Police and Lang Giang District Police, along with other authorities, are examining the scene and the body to investigate and clarify the cause.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan, Mr. N's family runs a food service business; in addition to the three victims, there were also Mr. N's mother and a niece in the house, but these two were safe because they were in another room.

According to Ms. Xuan, when the incident occurred, the Commune People's Committee immediately sent officials to the victim's family and coordinated with the authorities to clarify the incident. At the same time, they visited and shared with the victim's family, in which the Provincial Relief Fund and the Provincial Red Cross supported 5 million VND, Lang Giang district gave 26 million VND, and An Ha commune gave 5 million VND to the victims' families.
