A statement from the Egyptian Presidency quoted El-Sisi as saying that Cairo will do its utmost to heal the rift between factions in Sudan, end the war and ensure the restoration of security and stability in the country. President El-Sisi said Egypt will continue to send large quantities of humanitarian aid to Sudan. The Egyptian leader also stressed the need for joint efforts to reach a comprehensive political solution and plan to meet the aspirations of the Sudanese people and end the crisis that the Northeast African country is experiencing, as well as address the serious consequences of the crisis at different political, social and humanitarian levels.

President El-Sisi stated that Egypt is willing to coordinate and cooperate with regional and international partners to resolve the Sudanese crisis, stating that any credible political process must be based on respect for the principles of Sudan's sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, as well as the protection of the Sudanese state and institutions as the foundation of its unity and stability.

Earlier, at the Sudan Civil and Political Forces Conference hosted by Egypt in Cairo on July 6, Sudanese parties agreed to form a peacemaking committee in the northeastern African country. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Diaspora issued a statement saying that the conference participants agreed to form a committee to promote the negotiation process and monitor relevant efforts to achieve lasting peace in Sudan. The statement stressed that the parties concerned agreed to maintain Sudan's unity based on citizenship and equal rights as well as a civil, democratic and federal state.

The Sudan Civil and Political Forces Conference brings together representatives of Sudan's civil and political forces, the United Nations (UN), the African Union (AU), the Arab League (AL), the European Union (EU) and a number of countries with influence and interest in Sudan. This is the first meeting of civilian parties in Sudan's political arena since the conflict began in the country in mid-April 2023. With the theme "Joining hands to end the war in Sudan", the conference was held at the call of Egypt to resolve the crisis caused by the persistent conflict between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

According to a report released in late June 2024 by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the Sudan conflict had claimed the lives of at least 16,650 people as of early May 2024. The UN's International Organization for Migration (IOM) estimates that the conflict has displaced more than 7.7 million people within the country, while about 2.2 million others have fled to neighboring countries. According to official Egyptian figures, about 500,000 Sudanese have fled to Egypt since the conflict began, joining about 5 million Sudanese citizens who have lived in Egypt for many years.
