One of four patients is being treated in the emergency room.

On March 4, Cai Nuoc General Hospital (Cai Nuoc district, Ca Mau province) said that the hospital received 4 patients living in Cai Doi Vam town, Phu Tan district, who were poisoned after eating puffer fish, of which 2 cases are still on ventilators.

Specifically, patient TNL (69 years old) was admitted to the hospital at 11:50 p.m. on March 1.

By the afternoon of March 3, Cai Nuoc General Hospital continued to receive treatment for patients: NVT (56 years old), NUL (60 years old) and NHC (47 years old) with the same cause.

Upon admission, patients with NVT, NUL, and TNL all had respiratory failure and apnea complications.

After intensive resuscitation, patient TNL has recovered and is no longer on a ventilator, while patient NHC is also stable. The remaining two patients, NVT and NUL, are still on ventilators and are being closely monitored.

Regarding the cause of the poisoning, on March 3, Mr. NVL organized a meal at his house, including NHC, NVT and 4 other people. During the meal, only 3 people ate puffer fish.

At around 2:00 p.m. the same day, Mr. NVT showed signs of fatigue, difficulty breathing, vomiting, pale face, and incontinence and was taken to the emergency room by his family.

Immediately afterwards, Mr. NHC and Mr. NVL also showed symptoms like Mr. NVT and were quickly transferred to the hospital.

Similarly, Ms. TNL was also taken to the emergency room by her family after eating puffer fish late on March 1.

Medical experts warn that puffer fish contain extremely strong toxins that can cause death if not treated promptly. Therefore, people should absolutely not process or use this type of fish as food to avoid unfortunate consequences...
