According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tu Ky district, the reason why about 400 hectares of winter-spring rice in the district grew and developed poorly, of which 17 hectares of rice died recently, was due to salinity.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tu Ky district, the Northern Plant Protection Center and the Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection (Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hai Duong province) have inspected and determined the cause of the poor growth and development of about 400 hectares of winter-spring rice in the district, of which 17 hectares of rice recently died, due to salinity.
The rice area that died due to salinity was mainly in places where young seedlings and seedlings planted in the yard had weak root systems.
During the period of tillage, the dry weather lasted for a long time, and when the water was regulated for planting, some areas experienced salinity in the fields, affecting the growth and development of rice plants. Rice growth was poor mainly in areas where direct sowing was done and where young seedlings were planted.
Tu Ky District People's Committee has directed localities with rice dying and slow growth to coordinate with the District Irrigation Works Exploitation Enterprise to regulate surface water in the fields, remove acidity and wash away salt. The district's professional agencies have also instructed farmers to synchronously implement remedial measures.
By March 9, the affected rice area had recovered, and the dead rice was replanted.
