To replicate the model of classifying and treating waste into organic fertilizer in daily life, it is necessary to have in-depth research on the methods and processes of classifying waste, composting and evaluating the quality of humus before use.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, by October 2023, the whole province had 11 districts, cities, and towns piloting a model of classifying and treating waste into organic fertilizer for daily life (except Hai Duong city).

Nam Sach and Tu Ky are two districts with 100% of communes and towns classifying and processing waste into organic fertilizer. Of which, the rate of composting at households in Nam Sach district accounts for 24%, and composting at communal pits accounts for 76%. The whole district has 44 organic waste compost pits with a total of 120 compost compartments, with a total area of 3,749m2. Tu Ky district has 15.9% of households classifying and processing waste into organic fertilizer in daily life.

The remaining districts, cities and towns have 1-5 communes and wards implementing the project. Of these, 10-25% of households compost according to household scale.

Currently, composting in urban households is still difficult due to lack of space and area to place waste sorting bins and compost bins. In fact, the quality of compost after composting has not been analyzed and evaluated, so there is no basis to recommend its use as fertilizer for plants.
