People's Artist Tu Long recently had a fun conversation, asking for the opinion of "King of Northern Comedy" Xuan Hinh about the performance "Drum Rice" in the program "Anh Trai Vuon Ngan Cong Gai".
Responding to his juniors, Xuan Hinh was impressed with the new version of Trong Com, which is creative and innovative but still retains the traditional features of Tu Long's group and the program's crew.
"I like the version in Anh trai vu ngan cong gai, impressed by the grand, artistic, and beautiful stage investment... The performance is perfectionist, detailed, combining folk songs but modern. Tu Long, Soobin - Huynh Tu's son and friends have youthful energy, compose well, and preserve national identity", Xuan Hinh commented.
"The King of Northern Comedy" added emotionally: "The performance is beautiful in terms of choreography, sounds heroic and makes the audience feel emotional, carrying the Vietnamese soul. To make the young generation like it, there needs to be new things, not doing what the elders have done, until now Tu Long and the children have to do something different."
The encouragement from his seniors made Tu Long happy. He shared that he received many clips from Vietnamese people abroad who were moved when watching the Trong Com performance.,someone cried "I didn't expect everyone to love "Drum Rice" so much. Some people said that watching "Drum Rice" helped them relive the heroic moments of the nation. Maybe I'm exaggerating, but I'm happy. Thank you everyone for loving Nha Sao Sang by Tu Long, Soobin and Cuong Seven," the male artist shared.
Previously, in the first performance of Anh trai vu ngan cong gai, People's Artist Tu Long, singer Cuong Seven and Soobin conquered the audience with their variation of the song "Trong com". The three artists were creative in combining folk melodies, rap and R&B genres.
At the beginning, the three artists performed newly written music in the R&B style. Artist Tu Long and his teammates added a rap part, but did not lose the folk melody of Trong Com, evoking the heroic history of the nation. The artists wore traditional costumes of the five-paneled shirt and turban, and performed folk songs of the North.
When the drums of artist Tu Long beat rapidly, they performed a powerful dance, expressing the atmosphere of military training during wartime, protecting the homeland. The final part was the sound of the monochord by Soobin and the festival flag dance by Tu Long symbolizing the period of integration, opening up and reaching out of the Vietnamese people.
The performance "Drum Rice" is loved by many young audiences, currently surpassing 3.4 million views on Youtube.
Sharing more about the meaning of this performance, Tu Long said: “This song is about culture. Culture is the essence, the origin of the nation. The cultural aspect that we want to tell is to continue traditional values, we want young people to understand and approach more, to love the ancient capital of the nation more.
We did not change the lyrics of Trong Com, but the special thing is that the program allowed us to compose 49% new songs. Taking advantage of that, we composed an additional part to refresh the melody without losing the identity of the song, the identity of our nation. Our audience can be 6x, 7x, 8x or 9x, but they can also be born in 2000 or later. They will still enjoy listening to Trong Com and we will enrich the treasure of Vietnamese culture."
On some social media platforms, viewers said they were surprised by the variation of Trong Com, praising the group for bringing a youthful breeze to the familiar melody. This performance quickly rose to the top 1 trending music position, currently surpassing 3.4 million views on Youtube.
