Overcoming oneself, raising the status of blind people in society

Comrade Dinh Thanh Tung, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Association of the Blind, highly appreciated the efforts of members of the Hai Duong Provincial Association of the Blind to integrate into the community.

From 2007 to 2022, the Hai Duong Association for the Blind implemented 192 group household projects, disbursing nearly 23.2 billion VND to 1,460 visually impaired people for loans for livestock farming, tree planting, production investment, service business... From 2008 to 2023, the association opened 42 vocational training classes, agricultural extension, vocational training, and short-term skill improvement for 539 students.

The Hai Duong Association for the Blind opens advanced massage, computer, and vocal classes for 253 visually impaired students. The students are given the opportunity to work at the association's service facilities.

In 2011 and 2012, the Maryknoll Organization (USA) sponsored a music vocational training project for 24 students. At the end of the project, the association established a Career Guidance Center and Performing Arts Organization. The center has coordinated with associations of districts, towns, cities, and schools to organize performances, generate income, and improve the lives of members...

The above information was presented at the ceremony to summarize 15 years of implementing the Campaign "Strengthening solidarity, proactively rising up, equality and integration with the community" in the period of 2007-2022 and 15 years of the Program "Sustainable employment and poverty reduction action" in the period of 2008-2023, organized by the Provincial Association of the Blind on the morning of June 23.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Comrade Dinh Thanh Tung, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Blind Association, acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of members of the Hai Duong Provincial Blind Association to integrate into the community in studying culture, learning Braille, learning a trade, and gradually improving their lives. Comrade Dinh Thanh Tung requested that all levels of the association promote the achieved results, strive to build movements, enhance the sense of responsibility, and focus on propaganda and mobilization work to raise awareness among members to overcome themselves and improve the position of blind people in society.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Blind Association awarded certificates of merit to 3 groups and members of the Blind Association of Hai Duong City, Thanh Ha and Nam Sach districts for their outstanding achievements in the Campaign "Strengthening solidarity, proactively striving, equality and integration with the community" in the period 2007-2022. The Provincial Fatherland Front Committee awarded certificates of merit to the Provincial Blind Association. The Provincial Blind Association awarded certificates of merit to 12 individuals with achievements in implementing the Program "Job action, sustainable poverty reduction" in the period 2008-2023.
