Vu Lan festival
Filial piety does not wait for Vu Lan festival
We have just passed the Vu Lan festival (full moon day of the 7th lunar month). Is filial piety a sacred duty, a meaningful act of every child during the years their parents are still alive, or is it only shown on Vu Lan?

Full gratitude in Vu Lan season
Talking about Vu Lan is talking about the spirit of filial piety and gratitude, the spirit of salvation of Buddhism. But filial piety and gratitude according to the spirit of Buddhism is not about indulging in offerings and burning votive paper in the style of "the world is like the afterlife" as in folk customs.
People filled the yard of Phuc Khanh Pagoda (Hanoi) during the Vu Lan ceremony to show gratitude to parents.
On the evening of August 17 (July 14 of the lunar calendar), hundreds of people flocked to Phuc Khanh Pagoda (Dong Da, Hanoi) to hold a ceremony, chant sutras, and recite Buddha's name to return to their roots.
What does the Vu Lan offering tray include?
On Vu Lan festival, families can offer 3 offerings to Buddha, ancestors and sentient beings; each family can prepare a suitable Vu Lan offering tray according to their conditions.
