VinFast VF 6 launched to Vietnamese customers, price from 675 million VND

On September 29, VinFast launched the commercial version of the B-size crossover VF 6. The car is sold in two versions: Base priced at 675 million VND and Plus priced at 765 million VND (excluding battery price). If you buy the battery, the car price increases by 90 million VND, meaning the Base version is 765 million VND and the Plus version is 855 million VND.

If purchased without a battery, the price of the VF 6 is in the middle of the B segment, equivalent to the Hyundai Creta (640-740 million VND), higher than the Kia Seltos (599-719 million VND). If purchased with a battery, the price of the VF 6 is high, on par with Japanese models such as the Toyota Yaris Cross (730-838 million VND), Nissan Kicks (789-858 million VND). The cost of charging electricity is cheaper than filling up with gasoline, which will offset the additional cost of the battery pack.

With VF 6, VinFast increases the total number of its products in Vietnam to 5 and all are high-chassis vehicles, after VF e34, VF 8, VF 9 and VF 5.

The VinFast Base and Plus versions are similar in exterior and interior design. Compared to the concept version shown to customers a few months ago, the car no longer has front fog lights, sunroof and VinFast lettering on the rear, while other details remain unchanged.

The batteries of these two versions share the same 59.6 kWh type, with an operating range of 399 km on the Base version and 381 km on the Plus version. VF 6 is the first model to install batteries manufactured by VinES, with battery cell technology in cooperation with Gotion (China).

VinFast equips the VF 6 with an electric motor on the front axle. The Base version has a capacity of 174 horsepower, 250 Nm of torque and the Plus version has a capacity of 201 horsepower, 310 Nm of torque.

In terms of dimensions, the VinFast VF 6 has dimensions of length x width x height of 4,238 x 1,820 x 1,594 mm and a wheelbase of 2,730 mm. The car is fitted with 19-inch wheels. Compared to its B-segment gasoline-powered competitors, the VF 6 is shorter in length, wider, while its height is slightly higher than the Creta and lower than the HR-V. However, the wheelbase of the VF 6 is longer than its competitors.

VinFast is selling the VF e34 in the B+ segment. Compared to the e34 with the length x width x height of 4,300 x 1,793 x 1,613 mm, the VF 6 is wider but shorter and lower. The e34 is only sold in the Vietnamese market, while the VF 6 is a global product of the Vietnamese company.

VF 6 follows a soft design language, rounded at most corners on the body. The C-pillar gradually tapers towards the rear in coupe style. The front of the car has VinFast's familiar V-shaped LED positioning strip, below are LED headlights.

Because there is no need for engine cooling like gasoline or diesel vehicles, the VF 6's grille is sealed and seamless with the body, creating a seamless look from front to back. The design of the taillights is similar to the front headlights.

In the interior, VinFast minimizes the buttons for VF 6. The central entertainment screen is oriented towards the driver. The gear lever is push-button type. The car does not have a speedometer behind the steering wheel like most models on the market.

The seats are covered in leather. Thanks to the advantage of not having many complicated mechanical details, the interior space of the VF 6 is spacious in both rows of seats. The legroom for passengers in the second row of seats is the widest in the segment.

With the VF 6 Plus version alone, driving assistance features include traffic jam assistance, highway driving assistance, lane keeping assistance and lane control, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, front/rear automatic emergency braking...

VF 6 will be taking orders from October 20 and is expected to be delivered by the end of 2023. Customers who deposit their car between October 20 and 30 will receive a discount of 20 million VND, provided they complete payment within 3 months. In case the customer changes their name when purchasing the car, they will not lose their deposit but will not enjoy this discount. VF 6 is warranted by the manufacturer for 7 years and 160,000 km, whichever comes first.

VinFast launched the VF 6 when the B-class SUV segment is increasingly crowded with the participation of Japanese, Korean, German and soon Chinese brands. Two domestically assembled Korean models, Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta, are dominating the segment's sales thanks to their youthful appearance and more accessible prices compared to their imported, higher-priced Japanese competitors. Most recently, Toyota launched the Yaris Cross on September 19. Mitsubishi will introduce the Xforce to the market in December.
