Many families in rural areas in Hai Duong still maintain the custom of slaughtering pigs for Tet. Every December 28 and 29, relatives or neighbors get together to slaughter pigs, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere.

This year, Mr. Nguyen Van Tuyen in Le Hong commune (Thanh Mien) invited some relatives to kill a pig weighing more than 60 kg. This is a traditional custom that his family has maintained for many years. The pig's squealing created a lively atmosphere in a corner of the neighborhood and signaled that Tet had arrived.
Pigs eaten during Tet are often fed rice bran cooked with duckweed and sweet potato vines, so their meat is more delicious than industrially raised pigs.
Mr. Pham Van Toan (blue shirt) in Ngoc Ky commune (Tu Ky) called his family members to catch a pig weighing up to 136 kg. According to Mr. Toan, for the past 6 months, this pig has been raised entirely by hand, so the meat is firm and delicious.
Mr. Le Thac Tuan's family in Doan Thuong commune (Gia Loc) and his brothers bought a 25 kg wild boar from Hoa Binh to make a New Year's Eve meal. Mr. Tuan said that there is no shortage of pork in the market, but for Tet, you have to touch a pig to be happy.
