The Chinese State Council has announced the appointment of Hua Chunying as Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The above information was published by Xinhua News Agency on May 27, stating that before being appointed to her new position, Ms. Hua Chunying was the spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Ms. Hua Chunying was born in 1970 and started working at the Chinese Foreign Ministry in 1992, having held positions at the Western European Department and the Chinese Mission in Singapore, the Chinese Mission to the European Union and the European Affairs Department of the ministry.
Since 2012, she has served as spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry and Deputy Director of the Ministry's Press and Information Department; she was appointed Director of the Press and Information Department of the Chinese Foreign Ministry in 2019. In 2021, she was appointed Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of China.
Previously, Mr. Lu Kang - former spokesman of the Chinese Foreign Ministry - was also appointed as Deputy Head of the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
Mr. Lu Kang was born in 1968 and started working at the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1992. He has held many positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs such as: Deputy Director of the International Department, Deputy Director of the Department of North America and Oceania, Director of the Department of Press and Information, Director of the Department of North America and Oceania. He also held the positions of Minister of the Chinese Embassy in the US, Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia, etc.
