A few days after the G20 Summit in India ended, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was still unable to return home because his plane had technical problems.
BBC (UK) reported that it is expected that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will be able to board a plane to return to Canada by the afternoon of September 12.
Prime Minister Trudeau arrived in New Delhi on the morning of September 8. His original schedule was to leave India at 8 p.m. on September 10 (local time), after the two-day G20 Summit concluded in New Delhi, and land in Ottawa on September 11.
However, the plan had to change after the Canadian military discovered a technical fault with the plane carrying Prime Minister Trudeau. The Canadian Prime Minister's Office confirmed the information.
Apart from Prime Minister Trudeau, the entire Canadian delegation has also been unable to leave India. “These issues cannot be resolved immediately and our delegation will remain in India until an alternative solution is found,” the Prime Minister’s Office said.
Canada's Department of National Defence confirmed to the BBC that a replacement plane had been sent to India to take Prime Minister Trudeau home on 12 September. However, the agency did not give details of when the plane carrying the Canadian leader was expected to land.
