Player Tran Quyet Chien and shooter Trinh Thu Vinh are considered two strong candidates for the 2024 Victory Cup award thanks to their outstanding international competition achievements.
This afternoon, November 11, the 2024 Victory Cup - the award known as the "Oscar of Vietnamese sports" was announced and kicked off the 8th awards ceremony season.
The 2024 Victory Cup continues to maintain the structure of 11 award categories, of which 3 categories: Male Athlete of the Year, Female Athlete of the Year and Young Athlete of the Year each have 8 candidates.
In the two most prominent categories of Male and Female Athlete of the Year, player Tran Quyet Chien (billiards) and shooter Trinh Thu Vinh (shooting) are considered two strong candidates for the award thanks to their outstanding international achievements in 2024 (cue player Quyet Chien won two World Cup championships, while "Golden Girl" Trinh Thu Vinh reached the finals of the women's 10m and 25m air pistol events at the Paris Olympics).
In addition to the nominated list, the Organizing Committee and the Voting Council will continue to update and add outstanding faces and groups until the last minute.
This decision is expected to motivate individuals and teams of the two football teams, the Vietnam Futsal team (Southeast Asia runner-up) and the Vietnam national team (preparing to participate in the ASEAN Cup) to compete for the 2024 Victory Cup award.
This year, the award continues to maintain the prize level of 750 million VND, in which the winning candidates in the 3 categories of Male Athlete of the Year, Female Athlete of the Year and Team of the Year all receive a prize of 100 million VND.
The 2024 Victory Cup award ceremony is expected to take place in mid-January 2025.
