Before its opening day in Vietnam, the famous Chinese milk tea chain Chagee has been strongly condemned by Vietnamese consumers because its application displays images suspected to be the 'cow tongue line'.

The image of Chagee milk tea displaying the illegal 'cow tongue line' is being shared by many people online.

Recently, social media users have been spreading images of the Chagee app login screen showing a map containing China's illegal 'nine-dash line'. Many Vietnamese users have expressed outrage, protest, and boycott of the milk tea chain that is about to open in Vietnam.

Specifically, since the evening of March 14, social media sites have been continuously posting articles calling for a boycott of the Chagee milk tea brand. The reason comes from the fact that the mobile application of this milk tea brand displays a map with an image similar to the "cow tongue line."

Immediately, this information spread quickly on social networks, making many people angry and calling for a boycott of this brand even though the store in Vietnam had not officially opened yet.

In fact, the link to download the Chagee app shared on the official fanpage of the Chagee Vietnam chain on March 7 is still pinned to the top of the page. Users are introduced to the promotion program to download the app. However, the attached link is currently inaccessible.

In response to public backlash, Chagee Vietnam has removed the app containing images similar to the "cow tongue line" from the Google Play Store and Vietnam's App Store. When users access it, the platforms display a message saying "The app is currently unavailable in your area."

However, with some roaming tricks, using APK files, it is still possible to install the APAC region version of the Chagee app on your phone.

It is noted that the images of the "cow tongue line" on the Chagee application login screen are real. This software is also available for users in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

In addition, the website of Chagee Vietnam listed on the official fanpage also contains a map with the illegal 9-dash line.

After the incident, Chagee Vietnam has yet to make an official response. On Chagee's Facebook page, the amount of anger and comments below the post has increased dramatically, making up the majority. Many users reacted strongly, demanding a boycott of the milk tea chain even though it has not opened any stores in Vietnam.

According to the record, the first store of this milk tea brand is expected to be located at the corner of Nguyen Thiep - Dong Khoi intersection (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City). The store is in the process of completion. The official opening date has not been announced by the company.

Chagee, known in Chinese as Bawang Teaji, is a high-end milk tea chain founded in 2017 in Shanghai by founder Zhang Junjie. The brand rapidly expanded and by 2024 operated more than 5,000 stores across East Asia.

Before this chain, many other companies also failed to control their products, allowing the nine-dash line to exist, which was discovered and boycotted by users. Recently, the image suspected to be the nine-dash line on the Baby Three doll also became a controversial topic in Vietnam.
