Talking about the late Prime Minister's ideology of great solidarity, Mr. Vu Quoc Tuan, former Assistant to the late Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet (1985-1994) said:Comrade Vo Van Kiet has repeatedly emphasized that: the greatest and most profound lesson in his revolutionary life is the lesson of promoting the strength of national unity, implementing freedom and democracy. That is the source of all successes in the country's history up to now, the path to winning people's hearts and minds for the cause of national revival, the source of endless creative strength of the nation in the cause of industrialization and modernization...
According to comrade Vo Van Kiet, the main enemy of our nation today is poverty and backwardness; and if we are backward, we will fall behind; if we fall behind, it will be difficult to escape the cycle of dependence. Therefore, everyone who can contribute to fighting that enemy should and can stand in our ranks. That is to carry out great national unity, attracting everyone to the cause of national development; it is the broadest way to carry out democracy, regardless of religion, class, or political views, as long as we share the same point of view for the prosperity of the country and the happiness of the people.
TECHNOLOGIST FOR THE COUNTRY, FOR THE PEOPLE
The life and revolutionary career of Comrade Vo Van Kiet are closely linked to his great contributions to the Party, the revolution, and the people. Stemming from his patriotism, respect for the people, and love for the people, he proactively approached the people to understand them, learn from them, and discuss with them to find the most effective way to do things. Almost all major decisions on socio-economic development of the late Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet contained the scientific knowledge of experts and scholars, and crystallized the experiences of all classes of people.
According to Professor Song Thanh, Comrade Vo Van Kiet was also one of the pioneers in economic thinking innovation in our country. He took on the task at a time when the country's socio-economic situation was in serious crisis. In his position, he researched, explored and proposed many breakthrough policies to gradually shift from a subsidized economy to a market economy, bringing the country's economic life to a stable state.
It can be seen that the political thinking of the late Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet was comprehensive, profound, sharp and strategic. It reflected his burning desire to find a way forward for the nation at a difficult time of transition. He had great intelligence because he had a great heart. Therefore, speaking of Vo Van Kiet's political thinking, in the end, is still speaking of his patriotism and love for the people, his noble and profound humanism, a quality that he silently cultivated throughout his life, following his great and respected teacher.
Talking about the bravery of comrade Vo Van Kiet, former President Tran Duc Luong always admired his decisiveness, his spirit of daring to do and taking responsibility.
Talking about “Vo Van Kiet’s style”, former Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Khanh also assessed: Comrade Vo Van Kiet is a decisive leader with decisive courage. In important tasks of the Government, he thinks a lot, thinks independently, proactively discusses privately with many people, and then when he realizes that the work to be done is right, he resolutely and proactively presents, speaks up and defends his opinion before the highest leadership body of the Party, before the Government and the National Assembly; and once he decides on something, he resolutely does it until the result, without hesitation.
With the outstanding character of being close to reality, daring to think, daring to do, daring to take responsibility, and ready to commit to the new, comrade Vo Van Kiet has mobilized many social forces to participate in the comprehensive and profound renovation of the Party and State. He has made many theoretical and practical contributions to abolish the centralized, bureaucratic, subsidized economic mechanism, planning and implementing the country's renovation policy. He has a practical working style in the direction of innovation, renewal, focusing on practical effectiveness. He believes that renovation is not only about guidelines and policies but also about changing the style and specific ways of working of cadres, party members, civil servants, first of all, high-ranking leaders...
According to Mr. Vu Quoc Tuan, comrade Vo Van Kiet believed that the revolutionary actions of the masses in the years before the renovation, called "breaking out", "breaking down", removing the barriers of dogmatic formulas that were framed in mechanisms and policies that were overcome by life, were a demonstration of the people's intelligence, dynamism and creativity, showing that there is no difficult situation without a way out.
Comrade Vo Van Kiet believes that as long as the Party knows how to revive and promote the unlimited potential of the masses; we know how to be truly open-minded, dare to surpass ourselves, sincerely listen and respectfully accept the honest voices of all Vietnamese people who have a deep love for the country, expand democracy so that all initiatives and dedicated policies can reach where they are needed, then surely the country's development will achieve many great achievements.
"VO VAN KIET'S IMPRINT"
With strategic thinking, determination to innovate, a close-knit, decisive and always searching style, comrade Vo Van Kiet has made worthy contributions to the process of planning and organizing the implementation of the country's innovation policy initiated and led by our Party. His name is associated with major projects across the country, affirming the vision and mettle of a leader in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
Comrade Vo Van Kiet made bold decisions and directed the implementation of many important projects such as: Tri An Hydropower Plant; irrigation works to dig the T5 canal to drain flood water to the West Sea; exploiting Dong Thap Muoi and Long Xuyen Quadrangle, sweetening the Ca Mau peninsula; the 500kV north-south power transmission line; the North Thang Long-Noi Bai road; Ho Chi Minh road; Dung Quat Oil Refinery and development of the oil and gas, telecommunications, aviation industries, construction of Hoa Lac high-tech zones; Quang Trung Software Park...
All of this speaks to the dedication and extraordinary efforts of comrade Vo Van Kiet in organizing and implementing the Party's policies, leaving behind the "Vo Van Kiet mark" contributing to the construction and development of the country's economy, culture and society, while demonstrating the vision and intelligence of an outstanding leader.

The decision to build a 500kV north-south transmission line was a typical event. At that time, our country was facing great difficulties in electricity, especially in the South and Central regions. Even Ho Chi Minh City, the largest city in our country at that time, only relied on the Thu Duc Thermal Power Plant with a relatively small capacity, so the city had to rotate power cuts two to four days a week. Meanwhile, in the north, thanks to the generators of the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant generating electricity one after another, there was surplus capacity.
On the afternoon of July 12, 1994, Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet and Deputy Prime Minister Tran Duc Luong visited and inspected the operation of the 500 kV transformer station of the North-South high-voltage line at Cau Do (Da Nang). Photo: VNA
Former President Tran Duc Luong said that in that context, the Prime Minister decided to build the 500kV North-South power transmission line with a very urgent schedule within two years (1992-1994). The project has become one of the symbols of innovation; demonstrating the revolutionary will of the working class of our country, and has received enthusiastic support from the Party Committee, government and people of the localities where the power line passes.
Comrade Vo Van Kiet once said: “Those who disagree, please stand aside. Those who agree, please roll up your sleeves and join the electricity construction workers. We once split the Truong Son mountain range to successfully fight the Americans. Now, let’s open a bright path along the Truong Son range to successfully bring electricity from the North to the South.”
Public, democratic discussion and thorough debate on important national issues are essential, but in the end, someone must make a decision, take responsibility for their actions, and have a solution, determined to implement it, then the problem can be solved.
According to Professor, Academician, Doctor of Science Tran Dinh Long, after the 500kV North-South transmission line was completed for a while, when meeting with electricity experts, comrade Vo Van Kiet commented: “At that time, if we had continued to debate like this, there would have been no way to have a 500kV line. Public, democratic discussion and thorough debate on important issues of the country are very necessary, but in the end, someone must stand up to make a decision, dare to take responsibility for themselves and have a solution, determined to implement it, then the problem will be solved”.
One of the hallmarks of comrade Vo Van Kiet is the construction of irrigation infrastructure, traffic, dykes, water regulation sluices, and the renovation of residential clusters and routes in the flooded areas of the Mekong Delta, especially in the two deeply flooded areas of Dong Thap Muoi and Tu Giac Long Xuyen, which is an extremely important system of works in the Mekong Delta that comrade Vo Van Kiet paid special attention to and directly directed.
Thanks to rapid and drastic construction, today the Mekong Delta has truly become a large rice granary not only of Vietnam but also of world stature. Hundreds of thousands of farmers in areas that are flooded for many months of the year have been able to stabilize their lives in renovated residential areas and lines; the slogan "flood avoidance" has been replaced by the slogan "living with floods". He once said: floods in the Mekong Delta must be considered as a resource that needs to be taken advantage of and fully exploited for its benefits.

The reconstruction of the Truong Son trail - Ho Chi Minh trail also bears his mark, as he once said: "The Truong Son trail in the past contributed to the cause of national liberation, while the Ho Chi Minh trail today is not only the path of the industrialization era, making the people rich and the country strong, protecting the integrity of the national territory, but also the blood connection between the two regions of the South and the North"...
During the years when he no longer held important positions in the Government and was no longer an Advisor to the Party Central Committee, Comrade Vo Van Kiet still had a heavy heart for many important issues regarding national affairs and people's livelihood, often contributing many enthusiastic opinions to the Politburo and the Government.
Comrade Vo Van Kiet, 86 years old, 69 years in the Party, has made great contributions to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. Throughout his life of revolutionary activities, he has always been loyal to the country, devoted to the people, lived simply and modestly, always put the interests of the Party, the country, and the people above all; is a typical, exemplary example of revolutionary ethics: diligence, thrift, integrity, impartiality, selflessness; a true communist with a kind heart forever in the hearts of our people and international friends.
