Peruvian Prime Minister Alberto Otarola said he had informed President Dina Boluarte of his decision to resign.
On March 5, Peruvian Prime Minister Alberto Otarola announced his resignation amid accusations that the leader abused his power in signing government labor contracts.
Speaking to the press, Prime Minister Otarola said he had informed Peruvian President Dina Boluarte of his decision to resign.
Last weekend, Peruvian media released an audio recording of a conversation between Mr. Otarola and a 25-year-old woman named Yazire Pinedo.
The woman earlier this year won $14,000 worth of labor contracts related to archival and administrative work for the government.
Mr. Otarola has denied any violations of Peruvian labor laws or other wrongdoing.
Meanwhile, the woman said the conversation with Mr. Otarola took place in 2021, before he held important positions in the current cabinet.
Mr. Otarola, 57, is an experienced lawyer who served as Chief of Cabinet in President Boluarte's government before being appointed Prime Minister.
