According to local media, the incident occurred at a five-story apartment building in the Hadaeq el-Qubbah area, more than 3 kilometers from central Cairo. Rescuers rescued four people buried in the rubble and took them to hospital for medical care. Authorities have cordoned off the scene to facilitate search and rescue operations. Residents in two neighboring apartment buildings have also been evacuated to ensure their safety.

The cause of the incident is currently under investigation.

This is not the first time Egypt has seen construction disasters involving old or damaged buildings that have resulted in loss of life. The incident came less than 24 hours after two building collapses in Alexandria and Beheira in northern Egypt killed five people and injured 11 others. At least 10 people died in late June when a 13-story building collapsed in the Sidi Bishr neighborhood of Alexandria.
