The auction of the Lipki-Alekseevskoye estate, where Soviet leader Joseph Stalin lived in the 1930s, is scheduled to take place on November 3.

Russian real estate website "Dom.RF" has priced the Lipki-Alekseevskoye real estate for auction with a total area of 3,800 m2 in the inner city district of Mytishchi, where there is a wooden house long managed by the Russian Government and where Soviet leader Joseph Stalin lived in the early 1930s.

The starting auction price for the plot (including 3,800 m2 of real estate and the lease of an additional 38.4 ha plot) is 403.49 million rubles (approximately 4.2 million USD).

Joseph Stalin moved to this estate in 1932 after the death of his wife Nadezhda Alliluyeva

The idea of selling the former home of Soviet leader Joseph Stalin was first reported in August 2023, but the price of the property was not disclosed. Experts estimate the overall value of the complex at 400–500 million rubles.

The auction is scheduled to be held on November 3, with applications being accepted until October 30. To participate in the auction, participants will need to make a deposit of 80.7 million rubles.

The winner of the auction is obliged to carry out the process of preserving the building and the surrounding area, as well as meet the requirements for maintenance and use of the property as prescribed by law.

The building is part of the historically significant cultural heritage site “Lipki Estate of the 19th Century”. The first owner of the complex was merchant and mayor of Moscow Alexander Alekseev. After the October Revolution, the complex was nationalized and initially used as a boarding school.

The winner of the auction is obligated to preserve the building and surrounding area.

Soviet leader Joseph Stalin moved to the estate in 1932 after the death of his wife Nadezhda Alliluyeva. He lived in Lipki for two years, then moved to another country house in Kuntsevo and rarely returned to Lipki.

After the death of Soviet leader Joseph Stalin, the estate was used by high-ranking government officials. In 1989, the complex housed a rural rehabilitation center for terminally ill children, which was closed for reconstruction in 2004.
