The book "Uncle Ho wrote the Declaration of Independence" by author-journalist Kieu Mai Son
On the occasion of the August Revolution (August 19) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2), Kim Dong Publishing House introduces to readers nationwide the book "Uncle Ho writes the Declaration of Independence" by author-journalist Kieu Mai Son.
The book recreates a short but very important historical moment in the August Revolution of 1945, the moment when Uncle Ho wrote the Declaration of Independence giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
Author Kieu Mai Son has painstakingly collected, researched, classified and compared sources of documents to obtain detailed, specific and reliable information about the Declaration of Independence drafted and completed by President Ho Chi Minh. These are documents and memoirs of people who lived and worked with President Ho Chi Minh such as Minister of National Education Vu Dinh Hoe, revolutionary Tran Huy Lieu, General Vo Nguyen Giap, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Nghi, etc.
Through the documents that the author found, readers learned many more things, such as that Uncle Ho read the original version of the American Declaration of Independence while he was in the Viet Bac resistance zone. After drafting it, he read it and consulted with members of the Provisional Government who were prestigious intellectuals. This is clear evidence of his scientific working style, as well as his receptive attitude and respect for intellectuals.
The book quotes the assessment of history professor Furuta Motoo, Tokyo University, Japan: "In my opinion, President Ho Chi Minh's career and his thoughts are of great contemporary significance, not just important to the Vietnamese people."
Dr. Tonnesson, a Norwegian historian, when researching the history of Vietnam's August Revolution of 1945 and President Ho Chi Minh, assessed: "Vietnam's Declaration of Independence on September 2, 1945 was the main inspiration of a major struggle line, born after World War II: That is the process of gaining national independence on a global scale."

Author Kieu Mai Son said that at first, he intended to write about Independence Day with a broader historical context and space. But when he sent the manuscript to Kim Dong Publishing House, he was asked to adjust the manuscript, focusing on the main content as the book title "Uncle Ho writes the Declaration of Independence".
According to author Kieu Mai Son, he has been researching and studying historical figures and events surrounding the August Revolution and National Day September 2 for a long time. Based on the materials accumulated over many years, the author has compiled and adjusted them to include in the book.
“Kim Dong Publishing House prints books for children. Therefore, I also limit technical terms, using easy-to-understand language, close to young readers,” author Kieu Mai Son shared.
The publisher representative said that this is a meaningful book, helping readers learn about the political text of President Ho Chi Minh's Declaration of Independence at a significant historical moment of the Vietnamese nation. Kim Dong Publishing House believes that the book will be a valuable reference source for teachers as well as students, meeting the teaching and learning needs in schools.
