Phu Yen: Setting Vietnam Guinness Record for 100 Lobster Dishes

The culinary performance contest “100 dishes from lobster - The essence of the sea” is organized by 28 professional chefs and restaurants across the country in collaboration with localities.

On the evening of July 31, at Xuan Dai Bay urban area, the People's Committee of Song Cau town (Phu Yen province) held the closing ceremony of the first Song Cau Lobster Festival - 2022; received the Vietnam Guinness record for 100 lobster dishes and honored typical lobster farmers.

The program was broadcast live on Phu Yen Radio and Television (PTP) and rebroadcast in 28 coastal provinces and cities to introduce and promote lobster farming in Phu Yen province, considered the "lobster capital" of Vietnam.

Song Cau Lobster Festival includes a series of activities to attract tourists during the summer tourist season such as the Whale Festival to pray for favorable weather, boats full of fish and shrimp; artistic kite flying contest; seminar on applying 4.0 technology in the field of lobster farming and signing trade agreements between localities and businesses...

Notably, for the first time in Song Cau town, Phu Yen province, the culinary performance competition “100 dishes from lobster - The essence of the sea” was held by 28 professional chefs and restaurants from all over the country in collaboration with the locality. These dishes made from lobster were also recognized as a Guinness Vietnam record.

Mr. Phan Tran Van Huy - Chairman of the People's Committee of Song Cau town, said that the lobster festival is organized to arouse pride in the homeland, the country and the aquaculture industry that has been developing for over 30 years. Song Cau town aims to build a strong and sustainable "lobster capital", meeting new market needs after the COVID-19 pandemic. This will also be a typical local tourism product when it is held every 3 years.

Phu Yen province is the "lobster capital" of the country with about 88,926 aquaculture cages, of which Song Cau town has the most with 58,695 commercial lobster cages with an output of 1,050 tons in 2021. The number of households participating in lobster farming in Song Cau town is 4,852 households.

At the closing ceremony of the first Song Cau Lobster Festival - 2022, the People's Committee of Song Cau town honored 1 collective and 5 individuals who are typical lobster farmers.
