Phu Quoc has implemented a series of solutions to change the face of tourism, including establishing a price control team and issuing a code of conduct.
On the morning of December 18, the People's Committee of Phu Quoc City held a conference to announce the "I Love Phu Quoc" tourism stimulus campaign to strengthen supervision, improve service quality, and build a civilized, friendly, and international-class destination for the pearl island.
Phu Quoc City People's Committee announced the establishment of an interdisciplinary inspection team with the participation of the economic department, market management officers, the Department of Labor, and the People's Committees of wards in the city. The inspection team will control issues such as prices, service quality, tour guides, taxis, canoes, and tourist boats, thereby detecting, recording, handling, or transferring files to competent agencies to handle cases and violations.
Mr. Huynh Thanh Minh, Head of the Economic Department of Phu Quoc City, said that on December 21 and 26, a 33-member inspection team will inspect the quality and prices of tourism services throughout the city.
The representative of this unit proposed adding a hotline number, installed at all hotels, resorts, restaurants, public transport, and taxis for tourists to report at any time. From the beginning of 2022, Phu Quoc's tourism and accommodation hotline will still be Mr. Minh's personal phone number.

Phu Quoc City People's Committee also issued and announced the code of conduct "civilized - cultural tourism in Phu Quoc" throughout the city, aiming to guide the behavior, attitude, speech, and habits of all organizations and individuals when participating in tourism activities or studying, working, living, and visiting in the city.
The code of conduct has 11 articles, targeting 11 different groups in the tourism service chain. For travel agencies, the code of conduct requires promoting the message of "professionalism, prestige, quality", demonstrated through actions such as providing honest advice on tourism programs and services; fair competition; not abandoning customers; not making illegal profits; not discriminating against customers.
For accommodation establishments, the code of conduct points out a number of issues such as providing the correct and sufficient quantity and standards of services as advertised; being receptive and listening to feedback from guests; posting and publicizing prices; not discharging waste that negatively impacts the environment; and not taking advantage of peak times to force down prices.
Phu Quoc wishes to establish a standard of hospitality, friendliness and politeness. The code of conduct is used as a basis for warning and penalizing individuals and organizations with inappropriate behavior.
Mr. Huynh Quang Hung, Chairman of Phu Quoc City People's Committee, said that currently, international media is focusing on Vietnam, especially Phu Quoc. Therefore, the city needs to actively promote the destination and commit to tourists to sell at the listed price.
"Even the local people, for example students, when they go out and meet any group of visitors, they bow slightly, showing respect, hospitality, civility and politeness," he said, emphasizing that the participation of the entire system will help Phu Quoc become a professional, unique, friendly destination, loved by tourists in the context of difficult domestic tourism.
In addition, Mr. Hung requested that agencies, departments, customs, and police provide maximum support to the tourism industry, including charter and commercial flights to Phu Quoc, demonstrating hospitality and responsibility.
Another important content of the tourism stimulus campaign is tourism communication and promotion. It is expected that the series of communication and tourism promotion activities "Phu Quoc Day" will be organized annually by the city in key domestic markets such as Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City.
The city is developing a tourism information portal called "VisitPhuquoc", scheduled to launch on December 20; and is coordinating with telecommunications providers to send automatic welcome messages to visitors arriving in Phu Quoc.
