- After 7 years, People's Artist Trung Hieu returns to the small screen with the movie "Peaceful Tomorrow", there must be a special reason?

Simply put, this is a film project that is both relevant in the context of the whole country and the entire population working together to fight the Covid 19 pandemic and carries a humane message. The film was also filmed in a short time, with a light topic, so when VFC invited me to participate in this film, I agreed as soon as I read the script.

- Your character is a business leader, which seems to have many similarities with the role of People's Artist Trung Hieu in real life. Surely you also sympathize with Mr. Phat's worries and concerns?

I think anyone, regardless of their position, can sympathize with Mr. Phat. It is true that the outbreak has greatly affected the performing arts and the lives of artists. The theater is closed, the lights cannot be turned on, all shows have to be canceled, so artists are the saddest, life is already difficult and now it is even more difficult. That is what I have been thinking about for the past two years.

- What have you done to take care of and support artists during the epidemic?

Although the Hanoi Drama Theater is also a public service unit with income and support from the state, the actors have more or less a salary, but the Hanoi Drama Theater's Board of Directors has made great efforts to mobilize resources to support the artists' lives. We organized the movement "the healthy leaves cover the torn leaves", organized the Hanoi Drama - Singing contest to overcome Covid-19, to raise funds to support artists in difficulty. I want to use the contest to positively inspire the artists. And in fact, everyone is very excited. The artists stay at home to record and film themselves to participate in the contest. The music and competitive atmosphere have a great effect on encouraging the spirit, in addition to the material value that the gifts bring. Everyone is very receptive.

In addition, we also allocated a part of that fund to the Hanoi Fatherland Front Committee to support people in difficulty during the Covid-19 pandemic. Those gifts are one of the things that have a very widespread meaning. Last year, the Drama Theater was recognized as one of Hanoi's typical units in the fight against the Covid pandemic. In addition, from last year until now, when the epidemic situation is relatively stable, I have organized performances by artists to hospitals, police units, and soldiers on the front lines of the epidemic to encourage the spirit of doctors, nurses, and soldiers.

- 'Peaceful Tomorrow' is a film with a current topic and setting, the filming process must have had many difficulties and hardships?

Of course, because we made this film during a very stressful epidemic period, when Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and many provinces and cities were implementing social distancing. To complete the task, the film crew had to ensure the safety of all members. We advised each other, tried to keep distance, wear masks, spray disinfectant, and ensure 5K while filming. We were not only pressured about whether the epidemic was safe and how to protect the film crew, but also had difficulty choosing the filming location. Many scenes in the film had to be built by ourselves, such as the VFC office was also built to become Mr. Phat's office in the film.

In the past few days, there were times when Hanoi was at its hottest, it was very difficult for us to film outdoors, sometimes filming in hot rooms without air conditioning. Moreover, due to time pressure, we worked at a very high intensity, from early morning to late at night, passing through many checkpoints. Although we knew it was difficult, we tried to overcome everything, determined to bring the audience an attractive and meaningful spiritual food during the epidemic season, promoting to everyone about the fight against Covid-19.

- Playing the role of an emotional father who doesn't know how to express his love, is a bit patriarchal and strict, is People's Artist Trung Hieu similar to Mr. Phat in the movie in real life?

Mr. Phat and I are probably only similar in one thing: we have the same title of director and the same age. Otherwise, we are very different. My personality in real life is much more relaxed and cheerful than on film. After all, playing a character that is different from my real life is interesting.

- How important is this film project to you?

I think this is a milestone in my career because in addition to the film, which I believe is attractive and spiritual food for people to watch during the months of social isolation, it is also a historical and unforgettable moment in everyone's life. Besides many worries, this is a precious moment of silence for each of us to look back, think for each other, change our perspectives and ways of life. In addition to work, we must give more love to our family, loved ones and those around us. Live slowly and less chaotically.
