Living in a family with an insecure father will certainly hinder the child's development, negatively impact and set a bad example for the child.

If left unchecked, insecurity can affect every aspect of a man's life, specifically negatively impacting his relationship with his wife and children.
As a son grows up, his father needs to show and let him know what he may need (such as talents, abilities, support from others) to face life.
Over-criticism
When an insecure man looks in the mirror, he often sees the worst of himself. It's an uncomfortable feeling. One of the ways he copes with this is by criticizing others, perhaps for the very things he hates about himself, or perhaps just to vent his feelings.
As the closest people around him, his wife and children will have to hear everything he says. This can spread self-doubt throughout the family, instilling insecurity in those he loves the most.
Not willing to say no
When a man doesn't believe he has what it takes to be liked, his desire to be liked can turn his life into a competition. He fears that by saying no to others - especially his children - they will no longer like him.
But children who never hear the word “no” grow up with less self-control. They also tend to lack the resilience and perseverance to cope with the challenges and hardships of adult life.
Hearing the word “no” often can help shape your child’s character. Also, don’t forget that there are times when it’s important to say yes to young children.
Spend too much time at work
Men often take pride in their work. Good work requires recognition and praise from bosses and co-workers. However, a man who is not comfortable with himself may begin to crave this praise.
Family life can be seriously affected if this desire causes a man to spend more and more time at work, missing family meals and special occasions.
Living vicariously through children
When a father is struggling with insecurity, his children's milestones and achievements may not be just a cause for celebration. He may see in his children an opportunity to make up for his own regrets and shortcomings.
This would put unreasonable pressure on children who are already struggling to reach their full potential.
Risk of fraud
When a woman shows special attention to a man, it builds his self-esteem. A man with healthy self-esteem realizes that the most important compliments, flirtations, and displays of affection should come from his wife.
While a man who doubts his self-worth may seek this comfort from another woman. This can lead to emotional or other cheating. Infidelity can cause serious and sometimes irreparable damage to a marriage.
