He was born into a family with a tradition of artistic activities and knew many famous artists, so his path to the profession was quite easy and had many advantages. After entering the University of Theater, the male artist realized that he was on the right track and living his passion.

"That was in 1993, our class was in its final year. The leaders of the Hanoi Drama Theater were recruiting soldiers. At that time, Hanoi Drama was one of the most famous theaters in the North with a series of famous names. At that time, I did not feel pressured but was very proud because I had not graduated yet but was able to work in such a big environment and perform with all the stars," People's Artist Trung Hieu recalled.

He continuously encountered many favorable and lucky things because right after returning to the theater, he was assigned to lead roles and quickly attracted the attention of the audience, gradually raising his name. Not only acting, People's Artist Trung Hieu also participated in movies, television series... Those were years of hard work and continuous dedication.

"My point of view is that to do a job, you must love it and devote yourself to it. When we are passionate about it, everything will come. Don't be ambitious and set too many goals, otherwise when you fail, you will easily collapse," People's Artist Trung Hieu confided.

Nearly 30 years of ups and downs, sometimes wanting to stop

Talking about his roles, People's Artist Trung Hieu said that he often plays the roles of good-natured, honest, upright soldiers, and poor intellectuals. But in 2005, the male artist began to transform with multifaceted roles, the first being Khang in the movie "Duong Doi". From then on, he continued to try many different types of roles, even acting in comedies.

"If I only play one type of role, I won't feel satisfied with my artistic creations. I want to try my hand at portraying diverse roles in personality, villain roles, and then participate in comedy films...", People's Artist Trung Hieu said.

"When I get to play many types of roles, I find my artistic life very rich. And when I get to play many types of roles, I feel very excited and happy. I love my job more and am more passionate about it, and I never feel bored."

People's Artist Trung Hieu is always full of enthusiasm when talking about his profession. However, he also confessed that there were times when he felt very pressured and wanted to quit his job.

"During the day, I practice and at night, I learn my lines. I always think about what I have to do to make my character more attractive... Meanwhile, many times when a play is over, there is no audience at all. There are nights when there are more actors on stage than there are audiences below. There are only about 5-7 audiences sitting and watching, but the actors above still act passionately and intensely. Sometimes, I really feel sorry for the profession. There are also times when I think about quitting the profession."

But then, after thinking about it at home, People's Artist Trung Hieu said that he had to constantly try to win over the audience. It is not easy to get discouraged and give up the job that he is so passionate about when facing difficulties.

Thanks to his efforts and hard work in the profession, in 2016 Trung Hieu was awarded the title of People's Artist. Also in 2016, he received the decision to run the Hanoi Drama Theater in place of People's Artist Hoang Dung.

Constantly innovate to develop Drama Theater

After acting for a long time, People's Artist Trung Hieu switched to directing. He has made many films on historical themes with Vietnamese spirit. The elaborate plays with the participation of more than 100 actors, showing the spirit and heroism of the nation have touched the hearts of the audience.

Many young viewers came to watch and gave very positive feedback. They said that after watching, they loved history more and understood more about the nation's spirit of fighting against foreign invaders.

In addition to flexible content changes, Hanoi Drama Theater launched the first revolving stage in the North in 2019. The modern revolving stage brings a new experience to the capital's audience. In addition to rotating, the stage can be lifted up and split in two flexibly.

In addition, the male artist also said that in the future, he wants the new works of Hanoi Drama Theater to have many changes, combining with many other art forms such as dance and circus to increase the attractiveness for the audience.

"We are combining to make a multi-purpose theater. In a play combining circus, dance and many other interesting forms, it will bring excitement and appeal to the audience. That is the theater's direction in the future and I hope that with good content and good promotion, it will attract more audiences to the stage," People's Artist Trung Hieu shared.

"I have too much passion so I got married late"

In 2019, People's Artist Trung Hieu got married at the age of U50. Trung Hieu's wife is 19 years younger than him. He and Thu Ha dated for 4 years before deciding to get married. According to him, because he had too many passions, he got married late.

Besides his passion for acting, he also likes playing the piano, guitar, bonsai, calligraphy, photography... Each art brings him interesting and new things and helps him have more positive energy in life.
