On February 27, the Russian government issued a decree banning the export of gasoline for cars and motorbikes for 6 months, from March 1 to August 31, in order to stabilize the domestic fuel market.

According to the announcement from the Russian Government, this ban does not apply to shipments directly transported by fuel producers.

The move will not only help the domestic fuel market, but also support the refining industry and prevent illegal exports, the announcement said.

Russia imposed a similar ban in 2023. The measure was extended in 2024, also from March 1 to August 31. Russia temporarily lifted the ban in early April 2024 as the domestic market stabilized. However, the restrictions were reimposed in September 2024 and are scheduled to expire on February 28, 2025.
