Russia launches Progress MS-24 cargo spacecraft to ISS
On August 23, Russia's Roscosmos Space Agency announced that it had launched a Soyuz-2.1a rocket carrying the Progess MS-24 cargo spacecraft to the International Space Station (ISS).
The rocket lifted off from the launch pad at 4:08 a.m. (Moscow time on August 23, or 8:08 a.m. Vietnam time) from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan and put the spacecraft into orbit nine minutes later.
The Progess MS-24 spacecraft will make a 2-day flight to the ISS, then is expected to dock with Russia's Zvezda service module on the ISS at 6:50 a.m. on August 25, Moscow time (10:50 a.m. Vietnam time).
The cargo spacecraft will deliver about 2.5 tons of supplies to the ISS, including more than 1.5 tons of materials and equipment of various types, 0.5 tons of fuel, 420 kg of drinking water and 40 kg of nitrogen to supplement the atmosphere around the ISS.
