On April 23 (local time), US President Donald Trump announced that Russia had agreed to an agreement to end the conflict in Ukraine, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has not changed his stance.

Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Mr. Trump said: "I think we have a deal with Russia. We have to make a deal with (President) Zelensky. I thought it would be easier to negotiate with Mr. Zelensky, but so far it has been more difficult."

The US leader also stressed that he is not biased towards Russia or Ukraine.

Previously, according to RIA Novosti, on April 23, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump both understand the absurdity of refusing dialogue and they are connected by their readiness to resolve complex issues through discussion.

"First of all, each of them defends the interests of his country. What they have in common is that they both understand the absurdity of refusing dialogue. They are connected by the willingness to solve the most complex problems through negotiations," Peskov told Le Point.

Mr Peskov added that there could be no solution to the Ukrainian conflict without restoring normal relations between Moscow and Washington.

Dmitry Peskov also said that the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the Russian territories of Donbass and Novorossiya is necessary to achieve peace in Ukraine.
