Recently, Global Firepower - a website that tracks military-related information about countries around the world - published a military ranking of 145 countries.

This military power ranking takes into account more than 60 factors such as the complexity of equipment, finances, geography and resources...

The rankings only assess militaries from a conventional perspective, not taking into account a country's ability to carry out a nuclear strike, its military's training and education, its intelligence services or the effectiveness of its military command structure.

The rating scale is reflected through the military strength index (PwrIndx), in which the perfect index is 0.0000, the lower the index reflects the higher the country's conventional combat capability.

According to the new ranking, the United States is the country with the highest military power in 2024, with a power index of 0.0699. Next are Russia and China with military power indexes of 0.0702 and 0.0706, respectively.

In addition to the top 3 countries, the next positions in the top 10 are India, South Korea, UK, Japan, Türkiye, Pakistan and Italy in 10th place.

In this group, the US, Russia, China, India and Italy maintain stable rankings compared to 2023. South Korea, Japan and Türkiye move up in the rankings while the UK and Pakistan drop in rankings compared to 2023.

Indonesia ranked 13th, higher than countries like Israel and Germany (ranked 17th and 19th respectively).

Indonesia's main defense strength is its military, which is reported to have 1,050,000 personnel, including 400,000 active duty personnel. In 2023, Global Firepower's rankings also ranked Indonesia 13th.
