Dam Thanh Tung (born in 1988, in Quang Chau commune, Quang Trach district, Quang Binh) has just been invited by the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention, Hai Duong Provincial Police to work to investigate the act of fraud and property appropriation.
According to investigation documents, in early February 2023, after going online and learning that Ms. Le Thi M. (in Sao Do ward, Chi Linh) was posting questions on the Facebook group "Luận que kinh divination" to find a way to cure her son's epilepsy, Tung used the Facebook account "Anh Minh" to approach and message Ms. M. and introduced himself as knowing many shamans who could perform ceremonies and worship to cure her son.
Believing it was true, Ms. M. transferred money to Tung's account many times so that Tung could prepare offerings, worship, and treat his son. The total amount was more than 86 million VND.
At the police station, Tung also confessed that with similar tricks, he had defrauded and appropriated over 200 million VND from many people.
