Hai Luu buffalo fighting festival reopens, no tickets sold

This year, the Hai Luu buffalo fighting festival (Hai Luu commune, Song Lo district, Vinh Phuc) was held again after 3 years of postponement due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The organizers said they will not sell tickets to watch.

On the afternoon of February 1, the People's Committee of Hai Luu commune, Song Lo district (Vinh Phuc) announced that the 2023 buffalo fighting festival will be held for 3 days, from February 5 to 7 (ie January 15-17), at the commune's stadium, with 20 Cau (local people's name) participating in the competition.

Hai Luu Commune People's Committee will continue to implement the project to innovate the management and organization of buffalo fighting festivals to overcome the shortcomings and limitations of the festival and to be consistent with its traditional historical and cultural origins.

The organizers said they will reduce the number of buffalo fights from 32 to 20, in accordance with old customs, and will not sell tickets to watch.

According to the People's Committee of Hai Luu commune, each festival attracts about 40,000-50,000 visitors from all over to come and see.

“The festival's organization scenario has been carefully developed, and the authorities have developed a traffic diversion plan to ensure absolute safety for festival participants. Specialized vehicles are also ready to handle any situations that may arise,” said a representative of the Hai Luu Commune People's Committee.

The festival organizers will arrange separate paths for visitors and separate paths for buffaloes to enter the arena. The arena is protected by sturdy fences to ensure the safety of visitors.

Hai Luu Buffalo Fighting is a buffalo fighting festival with a long history. As of 2023, the festival has been restored for 21 years, becoming a well-known festival.
