Consulting on collecting fees for visiting relics and scenic spots on Ly Son Island

On November 30, Chairwoman of Ly Son District People's Committee Pham Thi Huong said that the district has organized a consultation on the draft Project on collecting fees from tourists visiting relics and scenic spots in the district.

Hang Cau Cliff was formed from volcanic lava and seawater erosion, and is a favorite destination for tourists when coming to Ly Son.

According to Ms. Pham Thi Huong, the district plans to collect fees from tourists coming to Ly Son Island who want to visit the relics and scenic spots in the area, and will not collect fees on a mass basis when tourists come to the island. The fee collection is to create a source of funds for restoration, renovation, and investment to improve the quality of services for tourists at the relics and scenic spots.

According to the Project, the expected entrance fee to scenic spots, historical sites, cultural works, and museums on Big Island is 80,000 VND/person/trip, and on Small Island (An Binh) is 20,000 VND/person/trip.

The project applies free tickets for children under 6 years old, people with disabilities, Ly Son residents, officials, civil servants, armed forces working at agencies and units in the area; officials, civil servants, civil servants, armed forces on business trips in the district. The project applies a 30% - 50% reduction in entrance fees for some other special cases.

Ly Son district will arrange ticket counters at Ben Dinh port with two ticket prices for visiting Big Island and Small Island; arrange counters and staff to check tickets at tourist attractions.

Representatives of departments and units basically agreed on the draft project, and at the same time gave comments on the collection, collection levels, and revenue management. After consulting with departments, the District People's Committee will issue a document reporting to the Provincial People's Committee to submit to the Provincial People's Council for approval of a resolution on fee collection. The project is expected to be implemented in 2024.

Previously, in 2019, the People's Council of Quang Ngai province passed a Resolution regulating the collection rates, collection, payment, management and use of sightseeing fees in Ly Son district. However, due to the outbreak of Covid-19, the fee collection was temporarily suspended.
