A new scam has just been warned about impersonating a postpaid wallet to steal money.
Currently, there are many fake MoMo/Postpaid Wallet fanpages to trick customers into opening wallets and conducting credit-appropriation transactions, and performing unofficial Postpaid Wallet withdrawal services.
Specifically, scammers will post information on fake fanpages about the event: "Customer appreciation with big rewards from MoMo wallet" with many reward levels of 500K, 600K, 800K, 900K. At the same time, scammers will approach to bait with the content "received money", "praise reputation".
The subjects call on users to send messages immediately to be "taken care of", with instructions to receive 500K to their MoMo wallet account. When customers send messages, the scammers instruct customers to go to My Wallet, click on Trust Score, take a screenshot and send it back to the scammer, with the reason to see if they are eligible to receive incentives to their wallet...

Next, the scammer instructed customers to download the Sendo app, link it to MoMo, and then scammed them into only needing to confirm payment on Sendo to receive a gift, causing customers to lose money on MoMo.
Another trick is to grasp the need to borrow or withdraw cash from credit products, some subjects have approached and scammed customers with extremely sophisticated tricks.
These subjects often create groups on Facebook or send Zalo messages inviting customers to withdraw cash, with monthly payments to receive cash at low interest rates.
If the customer agrees, the subject will ask the credit card holder to scan the QR code to pay, if successful, the customer will receive a cash advance. The user may incur high fees or worse, be responsible for paying the entire amount paid. If unable to pay, the customer may be recorded as a bad debt on the National Credit Information Center (CIC).
"Withdrawing money from Postpaid Wallet is not recommended and may violate the law, making it easy for users to get into debt and face legal risks such as being recorded as bad debt on CIC if they do not pay their outstanding balance on time, thereby affecting the use of financial products and the ability to borrow in the future. Customers' personal information may be exposed and criminals may use this information to continue their future profiteering activities" - MoMo warns.
To avoid losing money, MoMo warns users not to pay their Postpaid Wallet balance through any channel other than MoMo. Do not provide information such as OTP code, MoMo password, Postpaid Wallet limit information to anyone to avoid information theft and fraud.
