Beauty uses "strange tricks" to defraud and appropriate property

On September 29, the Hanoi People's Court sentenced defendant Dang Thuy Chi (born in 1982, in Tay Ho district) to 8 years in prison for the crime of "Fraudulent appropriation of property".

With the beauty of a beautiful woman, in November 2022, defendant Chi introduced Ms. Nguyen Thi N. (born in 1973, in Hanoi) to buy a house at an address on Thai Ha Street, Hanoi. Because she did not have a need to use it, Ms. N. asked the defendant to find a tenant for the house at a price of 620 million VND/year.

In early December 2022, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc T. (residing in Quoc Oai district, Hanoi) and his girlfriend wanted to rent the above house to open an English teaching center, so they contacted Chi.

Talking to Mr. T., the beautiful woman claimed to be the owner of the house and showed him the "red book". Trusting him, Mr. T. rented this house for 3 years. The first year the rent was 580 million VND, the second year was 620 million VND and the third year was 650 million VND. The payment was made by Mr. T. yearly.

In addition, at the request of the defendant Chi, Mr. T. must transfer 40 million VND to the beauty to advance the cost of buying an air conditioner for the rented house.

After the two parties signed the lease and rental contract, Chi handed over the house key to Mr. T. For his part, from December 28, 2022 to February 7, 2023, defendant Chi repeatedly transferred a total of 80 million VND to the landlord and lied that this was a deposit, a penalty payment... to conceal the fact that he had rented Ms. N's house.

On March 18, 2023, the landlord changed the door lock because the tenant had not transferred the money for a long time. Because he could not enter the house, Mr. T. contacted the defendant many times, but the beautiful woman gave many reasons. Mr. T. was suspicious and found out that he had been scammed, so he filed a complaint with the police.

During the investigation and at the trial, the defendant Chi admitted to the above crime. Regarding the amount of 620 million VND that he had appropriated from Mr. T., Chi stated that he had used it for personal purposes. To date, the defendant has not compensated the victim for the amount of money he had appropriated.

At the trial, the victim requested the panel of judges to handle the defendant Chi according to the law and at the same time force the defendant to compensate him for the entire amount of money he had embezzled.

In addition to the prison sentence, the panel of judges ordered the defendant to compensate the victim for the entire amount of money he had embezzled.
