Information on January 4 from the Ministry of Public Security said that the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency (C03) has issued a Decision to supplement the Decision to initiate criminal proceedings, the Decision to prosecute the accused, the arrest warrant for temporary detention, and the search warrant for 2 people to investigate the act of taking advantage of influence over people with positions and powers for personal gain.
The two defendants are Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy (born in 1967, residing in Hanoi, former specialist of Vietnam Education Publishing House), and Nguyen Bach Thuy Linh (born in 1978, residing in Hanoi, Director of SNB Holdings One Member Co., Ltd.).
The violations of the two defendants Thuy and Linh were determined to be related to Viet A Company.
Accordingly, the Investigation Police Agency of the Ministry of Public Security is investigating a case of violations of regulations on management and use of State assets causing loss and waste; violations of regulations on bidding causing serious consequences; abuse of position and power while performing official duties; bribery; bribery taking occurred at Viet A Company and related units and localities; under the monitoring and direction of the Central Steering Committee on anti-corruption and negativity.
Expanding the investigation of the case, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency determined that Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy and Nguyen Bach Thuy Linh had taken advantage of their influence, intervened, and influenced leaders of a number of ministries and branches to create favorable conditions for Viet A Company in the process of producing and trading COVID-19 test kits for personal gain.
The above behavior violates the crime of taking advantage of influence over people in positions of power for personal gain, as prescribed in Clause 3, Article 366 of the Penal Code.
On January 4, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency issued the above-mentioned prosecution decision against Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy and Nguyen Bach Thuy Linh.
After the Supreme People's Procuracy approved, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency executed the above decisions and orders in accordance with the provisions of law.
The Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency is continuing to expand the investigation into the case; reviewing, seizing, and freezing the assets of the subjects to ensure thorough recovery of assets for the State.
