Prosecution and temporary detention of owner of Facebook page "Destroy internal invaders"

On the afternoon of December 1, information from Dak Lak Provincial Police said that they had just initiated a case, prosecuted the accused and issued an order to temporarily detain Tran Minh Loi (born in 1968, residing in Cu Kuin district, Dak Lak province) to investigate the act of "Abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State, the rights and legitimate interests of organizations and citizens" as prescribed in Article 331 of the Penal Code.

The decisions have been approved by the People's Procuracy at the same level.

Subject Tran Minh Loi has attracted public attention as the owner of the Facebook page "Destroy internal invaders."

Previously, in March 2017, the People's Court of Dak Nong province held a first-instance trial of the case of "Giving and receiving bribes and taking advantage of influence over people in positions of power for personal gain."

In this case, defendant Tran Minh Loi was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison for the crime of "Bribery."

After the defendant appealed, in July 2018, the High People's Court in Ho Chi Minh City opened an appeal hearing; the Trial Panel upheld the judgment of the first instance court, upholding the sentence for defendant Tran Minh Loi.

After completing his sentence, Tran Minh Loi returned to live in village 4, Ea Bhok commune, Cu Kuin district (Dak Lak province) and established Tran Minh Loi TV Consulting Services Limited Liability Company to "provide legal advice" to people.
