Starting a business from paper cups

Paper cup products produced by Mr. Trinh Van Thiet are well received by consumers.

Mr. Thiet was born in 1995, in Tam Tuong village, Hong Du commune. After graduating from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Hai Duong University, Mr. Thiet worked for An Phat Holdings Group. Realizing that the trend of using paper cups to contain food and drinks was increasing, he decided to follow this direction. He went to a number of domestic establishments and businesses and through social networks to learn about techniques and machinery with the desire to choose the most suitable production model.

Along with that, Mr. Thiet proactively sought out raw materials. He chose raw materials made from virgin wood pulp, the outside was coated with a waterproof HDPE layer. The product consumption market was also a problem that Mr. Thiet was concerned and worried about as this was a new product, appearing on the market for the first time. To solve this problem, he researched the demand at some stores and businesses in the district and province and found that many people were interested in this new product.

In September 2022, Mr. Thiet imported machinery. Because the conditions were carefully prepared, he immediately started production. However, the difficulty arose that the machine could only produce 180 ml cups, while the market demand was diverse and rich. Mr. Thiet continued to innovate and process another mold to produce 300 ml cups.

Up to now, TH Green paper cups produced by Mr. Thiet have 2 main types: 180 ml and 300 ml cups with an output of about 20,000 cups/day. The consumption market has been expanded to other provinces and has been well received by consumers. Ms. Tran Thi Thanh (in Vu Huu street, Thanh Binh ward, Hai Duong city) is a person who has used TH Green paper cups and said: "I specialize in selling nutritious porridge. I used to use plastic cups, but since I learned about TH Green paper cups, I have switched to using this type of cup with a quantity of 5,000-6,000 cups/month. Although the price is a little more expensive, I find the design beautiful and clean, so I choose to use it."

With the desire to make more environmentally friendly products, Mr. Thiet plans to produce paper bowls of various sizes, and 1-2 more types of cups. However, the biggest difficulty at present is capital.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Phuong, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Hong Du Commune, said that Mr. Thiet was bold in his thinking and actions. If supported, this model will certainly have great potential for development. This is also a typical model of farmers' association members in the commune.
