On June 22, at the Ethnic Culture Park in Sa Pa town, Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee coordinated with the Embassy of India in Vietnam and the Vietnam Yoga Federation to organize the 10th International Yoga Day Celebration and launch the Yoga tour in Sa Pa in 2024.
The highlight of the Celebration was the Yoga performance with the theme "Yoga in the Mist" with the participation of nearly 500 trainers and students from domestic and international Yoga clubs, attracting thousands of visitors to watch and cheer.
This activity is part of a series of events to celebrate the 10th International Yoga Day (June 21, 2015-June 21, 2024) in Sa Pa.
Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of Sa Pa Town People's Committee Do Van Tan emphasized that the Yoga practice movement is growing stronger and stronger. Yoga has been and is being practiced by a large number of people.
The Vice Chairman of the Sa Pa Town People's Committee hopes that the 10th International Yoga Day Celebration in Sa Pa will contribute to tightening and deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and India in general and the good cooperative relationship between Lao Cai province and its partners and the Indian Embassy in particular.
This is also an opportunity for Lao Cai to introduce to the public, domestic and international friends the unique features of the land and people of the province; an opportunity for local people to learn more about Indian culture, thereby increasing their love for the country, the people of India and Yoga.
Mr. Roshan Lepcha, Political-Information Counselor, Chief of Staff of the Indian Embassy affirmed that Yoga is a subject that has been practiced by Indians for thousands of years.
The word Yoga comes from a Sanskrit word meaning "union." It denotes the unification of a person's body, mind, and environment.
This year, the Government of India has chosen the theme of International Yoga Day as "Yoga for Self and Society".
This theme emphasizes that, for the individual, Yoga promotes the integration of mind, body and soul; for society, Yoga brings harmony between man and nature.
The United Nations has recognized Yoga as a holistic approach to physical and mental health; and has acknowledged the widespread practice of Yoga as bringing many health benefits to all mankind.
Mr. Roshan Lepcha emphasized that Yoga is widely interested throughout Vietnam, which is very encouraging, it is associated with a strong belief in the importance of maintaining health. This is also something that President Ho Chi Minh always focused on.
The 10th International Yoga Day took place in Sa Pa from June 21-22 with many activities, helping participants and audiences love and understand more about the benefits that the subject brings.
Attending the festival, Yoga lovers and tourists can visit the exhibition areas of bell meditation spaces with strong Yoga features in Sa Pa; enjoy vegetarian products; experience health care products, products typical of culture, indigenous knowledge of ethnic groups in Lao Cai province such as bath medicine, foot bath medicine, products from perilla, essential oils...; enjoy exchange programs, art performances by Vietnamese and Indian artists, domestic and international Yoga stars, combined with art programs featuring the identity of ethnic groups in Sa Pa town.
In addition, in order to create new attractive tourism products to attract tourists to Sa Pa, on this occasion, the locality officially launched the Yoga tour in 2024.
