Vietnamese currency is not only used for buying and selling, exchanging in daily life but also to promote famous landscapes and historical relics representing the entire Vietnamese nation.

Below are the places printed on the commonly used banknotes today:

1,000 VND note: The Central Highlands

The 1,000 VND banknote was issued on October 20, 1989 by the State Bank of Vietnam and is still valid today. Measuring 134mm x 65mm, the back of the 1,000 VND note features workers riding elephants to exploit wood in the Central Highlands.

Since ancient times, elephants have always been loyal friends of the people of the Central Highlands. Not only helping in the daily life of the people, but also in the resistance wars of our people, the Central Highlands elephants contributed to transporting food, weapons, and ammunition to the battlefield.

2,000 VND note: Nam Dinh Textile Factory

The 2,000 VND note was also issued on the same day as the 1,000 VND note. The back of the 2,000 VND note features a picture of a textile workshop at the Nam Dinh Textile Factory, with female workers at work.

Nam Dinh Textile Factory was built in the late 19th century by the French and was once the largest factory in Indochina. In 1954, the factory was taken over by the State. Up to 13,000 people worked here, at times 1/4 of Nam Dinh City's population worked at the factory.

By 2016, the factory was replaced by a more modern textile complex.

5,000 VND note: Tri An Hydroelectric Plant

The 5,000 VND note was issued on January 15, 1993. The back of the note features an image of the Tri An Hydropower Plant (Vinh Cuu District, Dong Nai Province).

Thanks to financial and technological support from the Soviet Union, Tri An Hydropower Plant was put into operation in 1991. This is a project of great economic significance, helping to ensure water for daily life, agriculture and flood control.

10,000 VND note: Bach Ho oil field

The 10,000 VND note is a polymer note, issued in 2006 to replace the 10,000 VND paper note. The back of the note depicts a scene of oil and gas exploitation at Bach Ho field, located in the Southeast, about 145km from the coast of Vung Tau.

Bach Ho is the largest oil field on Vietnam's continental shelf, with reserves of about 300 million tons, accounting for 80% of crude oil production in Vietnam.

20,000 VND note: Hoi An Covered Bridge

The 20,000 VND polymer note was issued by the State Bank on May 17, 2006. The back of the note features the Japanese Covered Bridge (Hoi An, Quang Nam). This is a pagoda located on a bridge across a small creek in the ancient town of Hoi An.

This bridge was built by the Japanese in the early 17th century. Not only has it become a symbol of Hoi An, but the bridge is also a world cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO.

50,000 VND note: Nghenh Luong Dinh and the Van Lau porter

The 50,000 VND note was issued on December 17, 2003, with the reverse side depicting the welcoming scene of Luong Dinh and Phu Van Lau in Hue. These are two structures built during the Nguyen Dynasty, located along the longitudinal axis of Hue Citadel, which were originally a resting place or a place for the king to cool off before going down to the river to board the dragon boat.

100,000 VND note: Temple of Literature

The 100,000 VND polymer banknote was issued by the State Bank on September 1, 2004. The back side is printed with the image of Khue Van Cac, the symbol of the Temple of Literature (Hanoi) - the first university in Vietnam built in 1805.

200,000 VND note: Dinh Huong Islet (Ha Long Bay)

The 200,000 VND polymer banknote was issued on August 30, 2006, with the back printed with an image of Dinh Huong Island - one of the famous islands in Ha Long Bay, considered a masterpiece of nature.

Dinh Huong Islet has the shape of an incense burner, making many people think of the image of a giant incense burner placed on the bay. Ha Long Bay has been recognized by UNESCO as a world natural heritage.

500,000 VND note: Kim Lien Lotus Village (Nam Dan, Nghe An)

The 500,000 VND note was issued by the State Bank on December 17, 2003. The back depicts the scenery of Sen village in Nam Dan district, Nghe An province. This is the hometown of President Ho Chi Minh. The thatched house has a simple style with typical architecture of a Vietnamese village.
