Students in the capital Jakarta and some civil servants will study and work remotely to reduce traffic congestion and environmental pollution during the 43rd ASEAN Summit.
Indonesian officials said a number of civil servants and students in the capital Jakarta will implement remote learning and working to reduce traffic congestion and environmental pollution during the 43rd ASEAN Summit and related meetings, which will take place from September 2 to 7, 2023.
More than 700 schools in South and Central Jakarta will implement online learning programs to reduce traffic pressure during the important ASEAN conference, Jakarta Acting Governor Heru Budi Hartono said on August 27.
Heru Budi Hartono said the city government will direct and divert public transport on some routes near the Jakarta Convention Center, where the summit will take place, to facilitate the smooth movement of ASEAN leaders and delegates.
During the ASEAN Summit, 75% of city officials will also work from home to support traffic safety and reduce air pollution.
This form does not apply to some healthcare workers.
The head of the capital Jakarta also called on private companies to implement this policy if possible to contribute to efforts to ensure the successful organization of the conference.
