The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced that veteran comedian Jimmy Kimmel will return as host of the 96th Academy Awards.
This will be the fourth time in history that Jimmy Kimmel (56 years old) has taken on this role. Notably, the 95th Oscar hosted by Jimmy Kimmel was also the most watched award ceremony in the past 3 years, with 18.7 million viewers.
This year's ceremony will be attended by the late-night talk show host "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" and his wife, Molly McNearney, who also co-wrote Jimmy Kimmel Live! and was nominated for an Emmy as a writer and executive producer in 2023. This year, Molly is attending the Oscars as an executive producer of the show.
In a joint statement, Academy President Janet Yang and CEO Bill Kramer said: "We are thrilled to have Jimmy return to host and Molly return to executive produce the Academy Awards. They share a love of cinema and a commitment to producing a dynamic, entertaining show for a global audience."
Meanwhile, Oscar executive producers Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan praised Jimmy Kimmel as "one of the greatest Oscar hosts of all time", praising the famous MC's "perfect combination of humanity and humor".
The 96th Academy Awards will be held on March 10, 2024 at the Dolby Theater (Hollywood, USA).
