The journey to achieve high achievements of Hai Duong province's armed forces at the Military Region 3 competition

Under the scorching sun of a summer day in June, on the training ground of the Provincial Military Command, the Political Commissars and District Commanders were still diligently practicing. The movements from the formation command to the shooting were performed accurately and skillfully. With the spirit of "overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain, and practicing enthusiastically", each comrade was determined to achieve high results in the competition.

To prepare for this year's competition, the Provincial Military Command selected qualified and experienced officers for training and development. The head of the Provincial Military Command directly lectured and encouraged the candidates throughout the training process. The Provincial Military Command also organized mock exams to help improve knowledge and skills and prepare candidates for the competition.

During the 2 months, all Political Commissars and District Commanders practiced and stayed at the Provincial Military Command. Many difficult subjects required good physical strength, so the candidates had to practice during breaks and on days off.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Tuan, Commander of the Military Command of Binh Giang District, said: “We have to arrange and organize our time reasonably to both lead and command the work of the unit and invest time and effort in training. This is not only a task but also an opportunity for us to learn and improve our knowledge to serve our work.”

Clearly identifying the meaning and importance of the contest, the Provincial Military Command prepared well the training ground, training grounds, and review lectures for the contestants. Lieutenant General Nguyen Quang Ngoc, member of the Party Central Committee, Commander of Military Region 3, affirmed that the contest aimed to evaluate the qualifications, capacity, leadership, direction, and management thinking of Commanders and Political Commissars, and at the same time, to detect limitations in order to continue to train and improve the qualifications of the staff, meeting the requirements and tasks of building the army in the new situation.

Picking the "sweet fruit"

During 3 days from July 16-18, the contest took place with the participation of Political Commissars and Commanders in 92 districts, towns, cities and towns of Military Region 3.

The exam consists of two parts: general theory and practice. The general theory exam includes understanding of documents, directives and instructions of the Party, State, Central Military Commission, Ministry of National Defense, Military Region 3 on military work, national defense and building a strong defense zone. The practical exam includes build determination for defensive operations; report determination to the Party Committee; write draft resolutions; chair Party Committee meetings to approve defensive combat resolutions; shoot K54 pistols, lesson 1, 1b; command troops; swim freestyle.

With the above efforts, the delegation of Hai Duong Provincial Military Command won first prize. Hai Phong City Military Command won second prize. Quang Ninh Provincial Military Command won third prize.

The organizers awarded prizes to the Commander and Political Commissar couple. Among them, units of the Hai Duong Provincial Military Command won high prizes: Binh Giang District Military Command won first prize; Thanh Ha District Military Command won second prize; Kim Thanh District Military Command won third prize. Hai Duong Provincial Armed Forces received certificates of merit for their excellent achievements in all aspects and each subject.

The Hai Duong Provincial Military Command also promptly commended and rewarded the contestants who won high prizes. Colonel Ho Sy Quyen, Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command, said that the above results were the "sweet fruit" after many days of hard training with the spirit, responsibility, and highest determination of the Political Commissars and District Commanders. This achievement also brought honor and pride to the armed forces of Hai Duong province. This is also the premise to help the Commanders and Political Commissars in the process of leading and directing the unit to perform well the military and local defense tasks.
