Hai Duong proactively prevents measles epidemic

Given the complicated developments of the measles epidemic, Acting Chairman of Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee Luu Van Ban requested the Department of Health and People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to continue to implement the Ministry of Health's direction to proactively prevent epidemics during the school year and provide timely guidance on measles prevention measures. The authorities regularly assess risks, analyze the situation and propose appropriate epidemic prevention measures; update epidemic information; synchronously deploy epidemic prevention measures to prevent epidemics from breaking out in the area.

Propaganda and mobilize people to take their children for full vaccination on schedule. Provide guidance on disease prevention measures when going to public places and crowded areas.

Previously, the Hai Duong Department of Health requested the district People's Committee to direct the Health Center and related units to review the vaccination rate and register the need for measles vaccine with the provincial Center for Disease Control. Once the vaccine is available, localities will organize vaccination for people. Recently, there have been a number of small measles cases in the province and they have been treated promptly.

Since the beginning of the year, the number of measles cases nationwide has increased more than 8 times compared to the same period in 2023 and is showing an increasing trend in some localities. On August 27, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee announced a measles epidemic.
