The world gold price increased sharply last night, at times reaching 2,050 USD/ounce. At 10:00 a.m. on November 29, the world gold price decreased slightly to 2,045.7 USD/ounce. This is the highest price since the beginning of 2023. This level is only lower than the old record set in 2022 of 2,063 USD/ounce.
World gold prices suddenly increased sharply after the statement of Mr. Christopher Waller - an official of the US Federal Reserve (Fed) - that if inflation continues to decrease, there is no reason to keep interest rates high. He also expressed the opinion that if inflation continues to decrease in the next few months, the policy interest rate could be reduced.
The comments and assessments from Fed officials and the market reaction have created a favorable environment for gold prices to increase sharply today. In addition, the weaker USD and expectations of a more flexible monetary policy from the Fed in the future have contributed to increasing the attractiveness of gold as a safe investment channel.
Domestically, the price of SJC gold bars and 9999 gold rings both set records today. SJC Company increased the selling price of SJC bars to 74.4 million VND/tael, an increase of 1.1 million VND/tael compared to yesterday afternoon. Compared to the closing price at the end of November 28, the selling price of gold bars increased by 900,000 VND/tael.

The difference between buying and selling prices also increased sharply to 1.2 million VND/tael. The buying price was 73.2 million VND/tael. This is a profitable price for SJC gold bar buyers on the morning of November 28. However, the large difference between buying and selling prices also poses risks to buyers if the gold price reverses.
The selling price of 9999 gold rings on the morning of November 29 increased by 650,000 VND/tael, to a new record: 62.4 million VND/tael, while the buying price was at 61.3 million VND/tael.
At PNJ Company, the price of SJC gold bars also increased sharply, reaching 74.5 million VND/tael, 100,000 VND/tael higher than the selling price at SJC Company. The buying price was 73.2 million VND/tael.
The selling price of 9999 gold increased to 62.4 million VND/tael. The buying price is 1.2 million VND/tael lower than the selling price.
At 2,045.7 USD/ounce, converted according to the listed exchange rate at the bank, the world gold price is equivalent to 60.1 million VND/tael.
Compared to the converted world gold price, the price of SJC gold bars is 14.4 million VND/tael higher.
Notably, currently 9999 gold ring price is also 2.3 million VND/tael higher than converted world gold price.
