Nearly 50 Vietnamese enterprises attend UPITS program in India

UPITS was held at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida from September 21-25, attracting the attention and participation of more than 15,000 buyers and over 50,000 visitors.

International visitors visit the exhibition booths of Vietnamese enterprises at the International Trade Exhibition organized for the first time by the government of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

On September 22-23, nearly 50 Vietnamese enterprises attended the trade promotion and exchange program within the framework of the International Trade Exhibition (UPITS) organized by the government of the state of Uttar Pradesh, India for the first time.

UPITS was held at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida from 21-25 September and saw the participation of over 15,000 buyers and over 50,000 visitors. The exhibition aimed to promote small businesses and products manufactured across Uttar Pradesh and showcase them globally.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, witnessed by representatives of more than 400 businesses from many countries around the world, Indian President Droupadi Murmu affirmed that this is an important event for Uttar Pradesh state, while also promoting the vision of state Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and expressing his belief that the state will contribute significantly to India's goal of becoming a $5 trillion economy.

President Murmu also referred to the success of the G20 Summit and its impact on the world. The President believed that UPITS would advance India's national and international priorities in line with the G20 objectives.

President Murmu lauded the “One Locality-One Product-ODOP” programme and welcomed the display of unique local products. She also acknowledged the participation of young entrepreneurs, especially women entrepreneurs. President Murmu also mentioned the growing participation of women in business and expressed the need to further enhance it.

She appreciated the introduction of 54 geographical indication (GI) products at the exhibition, noting its importance in the development journey of Uttar Pradesh – home to 9.6 million small and medium enterprises.

The Vietnamese delegation included nearly 50 enterprises, accounting for more than 10% of the total number of international visitors invited by the Uttar Pradesh state government to attend the exhibition, which was organized in coordination with the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO).

With the support of the Vietnam Trade Office in India, the Vietnamese delegation participated in exhibition visits, trade activities, met with sellers and buyers, and attended export promotion forums organized by FIEO.

Speaking at the Export Promotion Forum, Dr Ajay Sahai, Director General of FIEO, said that with the building of an export ecosystem, Uttar Pradesh will become the export hub of the country and is expected to contribute greatly to the country's gross domestic product (GDP).

Mr. Ashish Jain, Deputy Director General, FIEO, shared information on India's growing role in the global market, marketing strategies to enhance India's footprint in the context of global uncertainties, high inflation and declining consumer demand.
