In the document, EU Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton said the protection of minors is a top enforcement priority for the DSA. As a platform that reaches millions of children and young people, TikTok must fully comply with the provisions of the act and play a special role in protecting minors online.

The move marks the second investigation under the DSA, following a probe into Elon Musk's social media platform X. TikTok could face fines of up to 6% of its global revenue if found guilty of violating DSA regulations.

The DSA officially came into effect on August 25 last year and is considered one of the EU's most ambitious laws on online content control, by imposing important obligations on online platforms. The regulations in the DSA aim to prohibit advertising that intentionally targets children or is based on sensitive data such as religion, gender, race, or political views. Behaviors that trick users into providing personal data online to companies will also be banned... This law shows Europe's efforts to build a safe and healthy online space for users. In the context of strong growth in the digital economy, the trend of increasing control over online platforms is increasingly receiving public support.
